Foster Grandparents mentor and tutor students who are struggling academically and socially. The program connects seniors with students who could benefit from a caring connection. Volunteers work with young children in the classroom under a teacher’s guidance. Anyone over 55 years old who is able to volunteer at least 15 hours per week can be a Foster Grandparent. Volunteers who meet the income requirement will earn a non-taxable stipend of approximately $220 per month.

Senior Companions serve as friendly visitors, providing assistance to seniors who are lonely and have difficulty with daily living tasks. Companions  provide friendship, emotional support, and transportation for errands. They also provide respite to family caregivers who benefit from getting time for themselves. To be a Senior Companion volunteer you must be: 55 years of age or over, willing to serve a minimum of 15 hours per week, meet the Program’s low-income requirement, physically and emotionally able to assume the responsibilities of a Senior Companion volunteer and able to provide transportation to clients.
