Helping Hands volunteers provide home safety checks and basic modifications to prevent falls in and around the home. The basic modification services consist of installing grab bars, railings, fire alarms, fixing broken steps, minor plumbing  and some modifications to accommodate wheelchairs or walkers. They CANNOT provide any service that would require permits. For this program you are responsible to cover the cost of the materials, but the labor is free. Their services are available to any senior that lives in Santa Cruz County. To request services please give them a call or send an email request to helpinghands@scvolunteercenter.org.
