A federal health insurance program for people who are 65 or older. Some may be eligible to receive Medicare earlier if they are disabled, have End-Stage Renal Disease (ERD) or ALS ( also called Lou Ghrig’s disease). To sign up for Medicare you can visit the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) website or give them a call to apply. Or you can go to Medicare.gov. Both options have staff that speak English and Spanish and they have access to a translating service so they can assist clients that speak multiple languages.
